I have a series 6 drive and have had no issues with it. I have had 1571, 1881 and now 1916 on it and have never had a problem flashing FW upgrades. I am operating in IDE non-raid mode. I do not know how those of you that are experiencing failures are operating. If we knew, perhaps we could make some sense of all of this.
I always do have a current Acronis image on hand though. Images only take a few minutes and should be made regularly even with spinners. |

Stankopp,
I was in the same boat as you; then one day my system wouldn't boot. I had mine runnning in AHCI on an Intel ich10r with f/w 1881. I use the Win7 backup tool instead of Acronis. I'm getting the impression that if you have a 6 series Torqx, you will need your backup one day. Edit: I was also using the MS driver for TRIM support, not the new Intel driver. I was in the same boat too! I couldn't fiure out why my drive (Series 6) was performing so well and everyone else's were failing...
My drive died last night as an answer to my question. |

I will let you all know when (if) my drive fails. I hope it is before the 10-year warranty is up.

I have just updated my series 6 Torqx to FW 2030. It is still operating flawlessly.
